MAC Installation

Data 7 embroidery software is designed for Microsoft Windows and does not run directly on macOS. However, it can be used on an Apple Mac by installing third-party emulation (virtualisation) software.

You only need to install the emulation software once. After that, it can be used to install and run any compatible Data 7 embroidery products.

Please note: all emulators listed below are third-party products. Data 7 does not provide technical support for emulation software or Windows installations, and we do not recommend or endorse any specific solution. You must decide which option best suits your needs.

Option 1: CodeWeavers CrossOver (No Windows Required)

CrossOver allows Windows software to run on macOS without installing Windows. It is a popular option for Mac users and provides good integration with macOS, including copy and paste and standard keyboard shortcuts.

CodeWeavers offers a free trial version. Compatibility depends on macOS version and Mac model.

Option 2: Parallels Desktop (Windows Required)

Parallels Desktop runs Windows inside macOS, allowing you to use Windows programs alongside Mac applications without restarting your computer.

A licensed copy of Microsoft Windows is required.

Option 3: VMware Fusion (Windows Required)

VMware Fusion is another virtualisation solution that allows Windows to run within macOS. It is free for personal use but still requires a licensed copy of Microsoft Windows.

Option 4: Boot Camp (Intel Macs Only)

Boot Camp installs Windows directly on your Mac and allows you to choose whether to start macOS or Windows when the computer powers on.

This option is only available on Intel-based Macs and requires a licensed copy of Windows.

Once you have installed one of the options above, you can install Data 7 embroidery software inside the Windows environment in the same way as on a Windows PC.

Because emulation products and Windows are supplied by third parties, Data 7 cannot offer support for their installation, configuration, or operation.
